    Gary Lachman joins CFCW Board of Directors to champion Florida’s waterways

    Captains For Clean Water is pleased to announce the appointment of Gary Lachman to its Board of Directors. A seasoned professional in international law, real estate, and a U.S. Coast Guard licensed captain with a US Merchant Marine credential, Capt. Lachman brings a wealth of experience and a deep commitment to environmental conservation.
    Capt. Lachman’s involvement with Captains For Clean Water was sparked by firsthand encounters with the devastating effects of water quality issues along Florida’s southeast coast. “When red tide started washing dead fish onto the beaches of Palm Beach, and we had to second-guess eating the fish we caught, it became clear that action was necessary,” said Capt. Lachman. His early support for the organization stemmed from a desire to address these concerns and help expand representation along the Atlantic coast.

    Captains For Clean Water has built a movement of passionate advocates who refuse to stand by while our waters suffer. I look forward to contributing to a balanced, solution-driven approach that ensures both environmental protection and sustainable industry practices.

    As a professional fishing guide since 2015, Capt. Lachman understands the critical role clean water plays in sustaining Florida’s marine ecosystems and fishing industry. “Water quality is everything. It directly impacts our ability to guide, fish, and sustain healthy marine life,” he emphasized.
    Beyond his work on the water, Capt. Lachman serves on multiple boards, including the Neurosurgery Advisory Board at the Johns Hopkins Medical Center, and is an accomplished author. His leadership and advocacy experience will be invaluable in strengthening Captains For Clean Water’s reach and impact.

    Gary is perfectly positioned to support the fight on all fronts and expand our presence on Florida's east coast. His passion for our waterways, combined with his legal and diplomatic expertise, allows him to understand the challenges from every angle. His approach will help strengthen our efforts, build broader support, and ultimately push our mission forward in meaningful ways as we work together to restore Florida's waters for all.
