Florida nonprofit to screen newest film recounting their most significant legislative battle over a bad bill
Captains For Clean Water’s (CFCW) latest film “SB2508: A Death Threat to Everglades Restoration” will be shown at the 13th Annual Fort Myers Film Festival on Saturday, May 20.
The film tells the story of a historic battle against a bad bill and an underdog's triumph during the 2022 legislative session, when CFCW supporters rallied to oppose Senate Bill 2508 and safeguard the future of Everglades restoration. Viewers will get an inside look into how the voices of many can create an uproar and stop politically-influential special interests in their tracks.
“This is a great opportunity for the film to reach new eyes," said CFCW Executive Director Daniel Andrews. "It's powerful, it doesn't have a dull moment. I'm excited for viewers to see the saga of Senate Bill 2508, it shows that every voice matters and can create a massive force of opposition."
The film will be featured at the 13th Annual Fort Myers Film Festival on Saturday, May 20 at 5:00 p.m. at the Sidney and Berne Davis Art Center, 2301 First Street, Fort Myers, FL 33901. The screening is open to the public, tickets can be purchased here.
